PKR defends restricting MyKhas access for two MPs, citing political conduct and party discipline over administrative error.

PETALING JAYA: A senior PKR leader has defended the reported suspension of access to the MyKhas constituency aid portal for Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung and Subang MP Wong Chen, saying that administrative access to development allocation systems is governed by institutional procedures and broader considerations of political accountability.

PKR deputy secretary-general Bryan Ng said that constituency development funds ultimately belong to the public, but added that access to systems such as MyKhas is subject to established administrative rules and oversight mechanisms.

“The restriction should not be viewed as either targeted action or administrative oversight, but rather as a consequence of political circumstances involving the two MPs, including their reported attendance at a political event on May 17,” Ng said in a statement today.

Ng said the MPs had attended the launch of Parti Bersama Malaysia, which he described as a platform involving former PKR figures and aimed at contesting Pakatan Harapan in future elections.

He suggested that such participation had raised questions regarding the appropriateness of direct access to administrative systems linked to public allocations.

At the same time, Ng stressed that constituency-level development programmes would continue as normal.

He said applications for community assistance, school-related funding, non-governmental organisation support and infrastructure initiatives under Projek Mesra Rakyat (PMR) would still be processed through alternative administrative channels and designated coordinators.

Responding to concerns that constituents might be affected, he said funding flows would not be disrupted and clarified that only direct access to the MyKhas system had been restricted.

Ng also raised the view that elected representatives are expected to adhere to party discipline and align with the policy direction of the governing coalition, adding that constituency mandates are achieved through collective organisational effort rather than individual action alone.

He further added that elected MPs benefit from party structures and grassroots machinery during elections, which, he said, carries an expectation of continued alignment with coalition positions.
