Mynt investors seen watching GCash results

MYNT Inc.’s upcoming initial public offering (IPO) will test whether the massive scale of its GCash platform can translate into sustained earnings growth as the company enters the public market, according to an investment manager.

Eric Jurado, hedge fund manager for the SeA Focus Portfolio, said Mynt’s established user base and expanding financial services provided a foundation for growth, but investors will ultimately be watching how effectively the company converts that scale into returns.

“That means... earnings growth matters,” Jurado said, adding that the IPO is about whether GCash “can continue turning its enormous user base into a long-term earnings-compounding machine.”

The challenge for Mynt as a listed company will be maintaining growth as competition in digital financial services expands, while managing credit quality and regulatory requirements, he said.

Digital payments accounted for 66.4 percent of total payment transactions in the Philippines in December 2025, up from 20.1 percent in December 2020, Jurado said.

He added that as of June, GCash had 41.5 million monthly active users, while its ecosystem included 7.5 million active borrowers, 17.9 million savings accounts, 9.2 million investment-fund accounts and about 2 million local stock market accounts.

Jurado said the platform’s scale gave Mynt an existing customer base from which it could introduce additional financial services, moving beyond its original focus on digital money transfers.

He described this as a “land-and-expand” approach, where high-frequency services such as peer-to-peer transfers bring customers into the platform before they are offered other financial products.

The model could allow Mynt to deepen customer engagement and expand the number of financial services used by each customer, he said.

Pricing for Mynt’s planned IPO is scheduled on Oct. 1 following the book-building period. Listing on the Philippine Stock Exchange is set on Oct. 20 under the ticker GCASH.

Mynt is offering shares at an indicative maximum price of P10, with the final price to be determined through the book-building process.

Jurado said the institutional participation in the offering should not be viewed as a guarantee of performance, noting that cornerstone investors are making their own assessments of the company’s long-term prospects.

The more significant question for investors, he said, is whether Mynt can sustain the growth of its business after its market debut and turn its existing scale into continued earnings expansion.
