“The response of the public was very encouraging, they were able to purchase essential goods including chicken, eggs, rice and cooking oil at subsidised prices.

“The sales programme were held continuously on a weekly basis in 36 state constituencies and there were no complaints of goods running out quickly or traders raising their prices,“ he told Bernama here today.

He said the strategic partners, namely supermarkets and retail stores also cooperated by giving discounts thereby helping to ease the financial burden on consumers.

In addition, he said a total of 85 Mobile Rahmah Sales were implemented as of Nov 15, adding that they were well-received as all goods were sold out at every event.

Muhammad Zahir added that the Mobile Rahmah Sales Programme which had been implemented in rural areas since July would continue as scheduled.

Yesterday, Deputy Finance Minister I, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said that the Rahmah Sales should be held on a weekly basis and expanded to include the outskirts, to address the issue of shortages in essential goods in the areas. -Bernama
