ACTRESS Nadia Kesuma, who was reported missing at King Abdul Aziz International Airport, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, last Thursday, has been found to have left the country.
Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the Malaysian Consulate in Jeddah has confirmed that the individual left the airport area after arriving in Saudi Arabia.
According to him, the Consulate has been in close contact with the local police and immigration to track Nadia Kesuma's movements, in addition to a local police report having been filed to assist in the search effort.
"This means that Nadia has passed through the airport area. A local police report has been filed, but according to regulations there, missing person reports can only be classified after 20 hours.
"Before that period, search efforts need to be carried out first," he said.
He said this during a press conference at the UMNO General Assembly today.
It was earlier reported that Nadia, who is also an actress in the film Syaitan Munafik, could not be contacted after her flight to London from Kuala Lumpur was in transit at the King Abdul Aziz International Airport, Jeddah, on Thursday.
The disappearance was also confirmed by the Malaysian Artists Association (Seniman) on Friday.
Actress Nadia Kesuma's husband, Prof Dr Muhammad Kamarul Kabilan Abdullah, 57, appealed to the Malaysian government to immediately initiate diplomatic efforts with the Saudi Arabian government to speed up the search process for his wife.
Nadia Kesuma's family members have filed a report with Wisma Putra and the Malaysian Consulate in Jeddah.
For now, Nadia Kesuma's husband is advised to remain in Malaysia and not fly to Jeddah to avoid any disruption to the investigation, in addition to the language barrier, as he is not fluent in Arabic.
Malaysian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Datuk Syed Bakri Syed Abdul Rahman, on Saturday said a report on the actress's disappearance had been filed, and his party was awaiting the results of the Saudi Arabian police investigation.
Mohamad said he has instructed the Malaysian Consulate in Jeddah to take all necessary steps to assist in the search, in addition to stressing that the travel agencies involved must not give up.
“The travel agencies must be fully responsible because Nadia went there through a group managed by them,” he said. – January 17, 2026
