KUALA NERUS — Terengganu FC (TFC) head coach Nafuzi Zain was a very happy man when the Turtles defeated Kuching City FC 4-1 at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium (SSMZA) here last night to reach the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
Even sweeter, the victory was achieved before more than 20,000 adoring home fans.
According to Nafuzi, with the victory, TFC are now only one step away from reaching the final and completing their mission of winning at least one trophy this season.
“Alhamdulillah.. despite playing in difficult and stressful conditions, TFC managed to win and have a chance to get to the final after the last time in 2018.
“I am very grateful to the players who have given their best and brought the Turtles to the semi-finals of the FA Cup this time,” he told the post-match press conference.
In the semi-finals, TFC will have to settle accounts with Selangor FC who also recorded a 2-0 victory over Sabah FC at the Likas Stadium last night.
Meanwhile, the Turtles import striker Kipre Tcehtche, who emerged the hero after scoring both goals last night, said he was looking forward to playing on the semi-final stage after a long time.
Tcehtche said that he himself has a personal goal to help TFC get at least one trophy in the Malaysian League this season.
“I think everyone’s target to reach the final and win the cup (FA Cup). It is also my target because I missed the final in 2018..so I want to get back to another final this year and now we stand a chance,” he said. — Bernama, July 24, 2022
