The 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, granted Datuk Seri Najib Razak an additional section or addendum in the royal pardon, which permitted him to serve the remaining six years of his six-year prison sentence under house arrest.

Through the legal company Messrs. Shafee & Co., Najib made the claim when he applied to the High Court here on April 1 to request authorization for a judicial review of the supplemental decision of Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

According to Berita Harian, he named the Minister of Home Affairs, the Commissioner General of Prisons, the Attorney General, the Pardon Board of the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya, the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (JPM) (Law and Institutional Reform), the Director General of the Legal Affairs Division in JPM, and the Malaysian Government as the first to seventh respondents.

Najib requested an order for all or one respondent to comply with Al-Sultan Abdullah's directive and promptly move him from Kajang Prison to his home in the application notice that could be accessed through the court's search engine.

If the supplementary order is in place, the former prime minister will thereafter serve the balance of his prison term under house arrest.

Additionally, Najib asked that copies of the original order and the addendum that Al-Sultan Abdullah had ordered on January 29 be sent to all or one respondent.

According to Harian Metro, in support of Datuk Seri Najib Razak's request for permission to pursue a judicial review contesting the validity of an addendum order by the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong that permits the former prime minister to serve the remaining years of his six-year prison sentence under house arrest, an undisclosed "critical witness" will swear an affidavit.

Muhammad Shafee declined to identify the "mystery witness" when approached outside the court following the proceedings. Through Messrs. Shafee & Co., Najib, 70, submitted the application to the High Court here on April 1.
