Ex-PM Najib Razak is out of prison and admitted to hospital for “recurring stomach issues,” for the first time after two weeks of imprisonment at Kajang penitentiary.
Does he receive special treatment as a convicted former PM? If he did then it would be the first time that a convict is accorded such a privilege.

On the same day too, The Speaker of Parliament announced that Najib although imprisoned is still an MP because he had submitted a request for pardon to the King.
That's another first in our history.
Lim Kit Siang released a press statement stating that "Najib’s pardon petition is the first of its kind, different from all pardon petitions of the past 65 years."
He also said that "This is the first time in the nation’s history where a pardon petition is submitted immediately after conviction and carries the implication that the judiciary was wrong to put Najib in jail, an implication that the five judges in the Federal Court had failed the cause of justice in not allowing a postponement of the hearing."
Besides, LKS asserted that his request for a pardon does not contain elements of regret, remorse or contrition for the offence committed.
LKS commented that this is the first time a request is filed after Najib has been in jail for only two weeks compared to previous cases where convicts would have served a considerable portion of their sentence before doing so!
Lastly, for the first time the late Nelson Mandela, a champion for human rights who fought against apartheid and went to prison for equality and freedom for his people is equated with an ex-premier who is sentenced to 12 years in jail for being the biggest kleptocrat in the world.
As a result, for the first time in history, a locally born Malaysian franchise, Nelson hot corn, becomes the talk of the town on social media, thanks to Najib's own son, Mohd Nizar who believes his dad would emerge "better after serving his jail time" hoping that this is "God's way of elevating his father to a higher status".
That remains to be seen but for the first, we anticipate Nelson's corn will sell like hot cakes!
