Kuala Lumpur: The Pardons Board will issue a statement following its meeting at Istana Negara yesterday, says federal territories minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa.
This follows a report by The Edge that the board’s decision on Najib Razak’s application for a royal pardon would be revealed today.
Zaliha confirmed attending the board’s meeting but did not disclose if they had discussed Najib’s application.
“Wait for the official statement from the Pardons Board. Yes, I was involved and we convened yesterday at Istana Negara,” she told reporters.

Read more Each state has its own Pardons Board, appointed by either the sultan or governor. The only exception is the Federal Territories, where members are appointed by the King.
The Pardons Board consists of five members: the attorney-general, the chief minister or menteri besar, and a maximum of three others appointed by the King or state ruler.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim previously sat on the Federal Territories Pardons Board, as the Federal Territories comes under the purview of the Prime Minister’s Department.
Last April, Anwar confirmed that he was part of the Pardons Board that would review Najib’s pardon application. He said there was no conflict of interest in him sitting on the board as the final decision lay with the Agong.
However, after the Cabinet reshuffle in December, Zaliha joined the board after being made federal territories minister.
