Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar says former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has yet to pay the RM50 million fine required for his house arrest arrangement.
KAJANG: Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has yet to pay the RM50 million fine stipulated as a condition for serving the remainder of his prison sentence under house arrest.
Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar said the fine must be paid at the Kuala Lumpur High Court Registrar’s Office, as the case was filed and heard there.
“As of now, Datuk Seri Najib’s family has not paid the fine. Once payment is made, I cannot say exactly when Datuk Seri Najib will be brought home, as the process may take some time,” he said when contacted by the media today.
He added that the standard operating procedures for the implementation of the house-arrest arrangement would be issued by the Malaysian Prison Department.
A Bernama check at the Kajang Prison today found no activity involving the former Pekan Member of Parliament.
Najib, 73, has been serving his sentence at the Kajang Prison since Aug 23, 2022, following his conviction for misappropriating RM42 million belonging to SRC International Sdn Bhd.
On Sept 18, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, granted Najib a conditional pardon, allowing him to serve the remainder of his sentence for the SRC International case under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028.
The arrangement is subject to payment of the RM50 million fine and compliance with the stipulated conditions.
