Brickfields police chief Assistant Commissioner Hoo Chang Hook said the woman was hanging her clothes when she heard her grille door creak open, leading her to think it was her housemate.

However, she was shocked to see that it wasn’t the case at all and was instead met by a man who was completely naked and somehow managed to slip in through the unlocked yard.

Out of panic, the woman ran away but was tackled by the suspect, leading to a scuffle.

“During the scuffle, the victim suffered injuries to her left thigh, lips and hand. The suspect threatened to kill her and demanded money.

“When the woman tried to reach for her phone to call for help, the suspect snatched it away and fled the scene after she refused to divulge the passcode to him,” said Hoo.

An investigation later revealed that the suspect had a lengthy rap sheet, which included 12 previous offences and seven drug-related cases.

A urine test also showed that he tested positive for ganja.

The suspect admitted to police about his involvement in several cases under Sections 394 and 380 of the Penal Code, which deals with voluntarily causing hurt while committing robbery and theft respectively.
