Speaker of the Johor State Legislative Assembly, Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi, said Kuala Lumpur should be moved to a new location that is not a valley and safe from disasters, like floods and landslides.

In his Facebook post, Puad remarked that soon after KL has been moved to a new spot, it should be renamed TL (Tanpa Lumpur).

Puad also questioned the absence of the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territory), Dr Zaliha Mustafa, to survey the landslide disaster area that occurred on Jalan Masjid India.

“Dr. Zaliha should have been the first person to rush to the scene of the incident. Jalan Masjid India is a tourist location, while the victim in the case was also a tourist.”

To Puad, it not only affects the image of KL but also affects the businesses there.

Dr Zaliha, however, has inspected the area involved and has given a statement before.

Puad also questioned the solution measures that had been taken to overcome the problem, including flash floods such as happened at the World Trade Center (WTC) recently.

“Kuala Lumpur is the capital of Malaysia. It’s a valley. Frequent floods like in the World Trade Center (WTC). What’s the solution?”

Puad was referring to Indonesia in terms of the moving of capital (from Jakarta to Kalimantan) due to the threat of earthquakes.

“Soon we will be left far away by Indonesia.”

What do you think of Puad’s take on this?
