KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian rapper Namewee has denied allegations of drug use and possession linked to the death of Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh, the New Straits Times reported.

In an Instagram post, the 41-year-old artist, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, said he is confident the truth will surface once police complete their investigation.

He said he had refrained from commenting earlier because the case remains under investigation and details cannot yet be disclosed.

Wee added that he and his team had faced blackmail in recent days but were ready to face the situation as it unfolds.

He was reportedly charged on 24 October at the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate’s Court after testing positive for four drug components, according to Sin Chew Daily.

The paper also reported that Hsieh, fondly known as the “Nurse Goddess,” died of a heart attack while in Malaysia on 30 October.

Wee expressed condolences over her death and criticised the delayed emergency response, claiming it took nearly an hour for the ambulance to arrive.
