FILMMAKER and rapper Wee Meng Chee, widely known as Namewee, has been remanded for six days as police investigate the death of Taiwanese influencer Hsien Yun Hsin in the capital last month.

Dang Wangi District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Sazalee Adam, confirmed that the remand order for the 42-year-old is effective from today until next Monday.

He added that the application for remand was submitted at the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters earlier this morning.

Namewee reportedly visited the station last night to lodge a report and provide a statement, after posting on Facebook that he had just returned to Kuala Lumpur from Johor Bahru.

The Kuala Lumpur police have reclassified the death of 31-year-old Hsien Yun Hsin, found in a hotel bathroom on 22 October, as a murder case. Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus stated that Namewee was the last person seen with the victim. - November 5, 2025
