RAPPER Wee Meng Chee, better known as Namewee, has had his remand extended by three days to assist police investigations into the death of a Taiwanese female influencer, who was found dead in a hotel bathroom on Jalan Conlay on 22 October.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the magistrate approved the police application to extend Namewee’s remand from Tuesday to Thursday.
“Namewee’s remand has been extended for another three days after the initial remand period, which began on 5 November, expired today,” he said in a statement on Monday.
Earlier, the 42-year-old artist surrendered himself at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters early Monday morning to assist with the investigation.
Police initially classified the case as sudden death (SDR) but have since reclassified it under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
“Investigations are ongoing from all angles, and individuals who were last seen with the victim will also be investigated,” Fadil said, adding that Namewee was reportedly at the hotel when the incident occurred. - November 10, 2025
