To be frank, sometimes it can legit get them to pay, without the cost or hassle of hiring a lawyer/debt collector.
But, I wouldn’t make it my first move.
Ofc, I get the frustration. They owe you money, ignore your messages, then happily post their holidays online. Confirm laochan lor.
But before you post their face everywhere, consider 3 things:
1. If they genuinely have no money, embarrassing them won’t fix that.
2. If they’re still willing to negotiate, publicly humiliating them may make settlement harder.
3. If you start adding accusations you can’t prove, you could end up dealing with a defamation claim too.
Personally, I’d first push for a firm payment commitment and take it from there.
I understand why some people do it, but I personally wouldn't do it myself.
