Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], July 5 (ANI): Under the Labour, Skill Development and Employment Department of the Government of Gujarat, the Directorate of Skill Development (DSD) and the Directorate of Employment and Training (DET) organised the 'Industry Academia Sector Skill Councils Outreach Programme' under the Namo Gujarat Kaushalya and Rojgar Mission (NGKRM) at Le Meridien Hotel, Ahmedabad.

The programme, held on July 2, aimed to strengthen collaboration among industries, educational institutions and Sector Skill Councils, while creating awareness about the NGKRM Yojana, PM SETU, the Pradhan Mantri Internship Yojana and the Mukhyamantri Apprenticeship Yojana.

Addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest, Labour, Skill Development and Employment Secretary Lochan Sehra said that a skilled workforce is essential for achieving the goals of Viksit Bharat and Viksit Gujarat. He said world-class, industry-oriented training is key to preparing globally competitive youth and urged industries to actively participate in the Government's skill development initiatives.

On the occasion, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and DSD, KSU, GTU and GIFT City to strengthen collaboration in the areas of skill development, curriculum development, internships, certification and employment across the State.

During the programme, experts delivered presentations on various welfare schemes of the State and Central Governments. Representatives from the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI), the Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC) and the Logistics Sector Skill Council (LSC) made detailed presentations on industry skill requirements, emerging employment opportunities, industry-oriented training programmes and industry-academia collaboration across different sectors.

The event was attended by NSDC CEO Arun Pillai, Director General of Kaushalya - The Skill University Prof SP Singh, Director of DSD KJ Rathod, Deputy Director Nipun Rawal, Director of Deloitte Priyank Patel, Smt. Ankita Lahoti from ICLS., NSDC representative Rakesh Kumar, along with more than 200 representatives from industries, industry associations, universities, academic institutions, employers, and Sector Skill Councils from across the state.
