As a new mum, whenever I go to places and have conversations on baby essentials. Diapers, what brand I am using and how effective it is, will be the most asked question. People always raise their eyebrows when they hear me say that I actually use cloth napkins or nappies for my baby throughout the day.
Are cloth napkins something that are lost in time? Or am I backdated for using it? As to my opinion, I would actually say there are always “two sides to a coin”, whereby some may agree, some may disagree with the idea of using nappies.
Comparatively, Cloth napkins effectively helps keeping the private parts of a baby dry as they have a higher absorption rate. Yes, a matter of fact is that a diaper can be worn for a longer period of time, which saves loads of energy for the mum, but certainly not recommended for the baby, as nappy rash will then willl an issue to worry about.
Next, usage of napkins can save lots of money for the parents. Diapers, in my opinion definitely is a reason for the “big hole to the pocket”. It is known that diapers take a long time to get destroyed, so unknowingly you have also become a reason for wastage reduction. The usaha of cloth napkins is definitely a more sustainable choice, as it is reusable. You will also be serving the purpose of the “Go green” campaign.
Also, napkins can serve more than one purpose. It can also be a towel to wipe or as a blanket If the need arises. Mothers would find it more convenient.
Even though laundry will increase, but your baby will be comfortable and healthy and that is what matters most for a mum like me!
