The administrator of NASA promised to take a football to the moon if the United States win this year's World Cup they're co-hosting with Mexico and Canada.

"We're going to get the soccer ball there," Jared Isaacman said in a news conference on Tuesday.

"So a little bit of motivation for the United States here on this one. That's the challenge, okay, so Team USA, get the job done."

The team advanced to the round of 32 as Group D winners and will face Bosnia and Herzegovina for a place in the last 16.

The US have never won a men's World Cup in their history, while the women's team are record world champions with four titles.
