TAWAU: When the Unity Government introduced the RM5 Rahmah Menu, a cheap dish known as Nasi Bambong has already been popular since the 80s in Tawau district and still remains today.
The bambong rice was quite popular here because it was as cheap as RM4 and suits the taste of many people, especially those who like village-style home cooking.
Calling herself “Kak Kasmi Nasi Bambong”, Kasmi was one of the bambong rice traders who still sells the item in Sabindo Public Park, near here.
She previously operated a canteen at SK Blok 31 for nine years before focusing full-time on the bambong rice business since 2019.
