BOTH the National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations this year will uphold the values of togetherness and inclusivity through its theme “Keluarga Malaysia Teguh Bersama”.

The selection of the theme is in line with the “Keluarga Malaysia” (Malaysian Family) concept aspired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

“Malaysian family” refers to a society that lives in peace and unity while the “Teguh Bersama” phrase refers to the strength achieved collectively by Malaysians.

In July, Communications and Multimedia (K-KOMM) Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa unveiled both the logo and theme for the National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations in a launching ceremony at Angkasapuri. The launch of the National Day and Malaysia Day 2022 logo.

The logo was designed by incorporating the wifi signal icon, which symbolises infrastructure development, communication systems and digitalisations that are progressing for the convenience of the people.

“Choosing three different colours for the stripes is also a reflection of the Malaysian Family concept which comprises various races and backgrounds.

“It translates the openness of Malaysians in celebrating differences and diversity for common progress,” said Annuar.

Annuar encouraged Malaysians to embrace this year’s theme and to live it with full meaning.

“It is not just a theme, rather it shows how we as Malaysians should celebrate the National Month and express the Malaysian Family spirit which must begin at the grassroots level. It must be celebrated within community circles and the family itself.

“I would like to call on all parties to use, display and print the logo and theme for National Day and Malaysia Day as a sign of love for the country throughout the month as we anticipate the celebrations,” he said.

There are three main highlights to enliven the National Month Celebration, which includes the launch of the National Month and the waving of the Jalur Gemilang recently held on July 30 in Putrajaya. The waving of the Jalur Gemilang is encouraged at the grassroots level to a sow patriotism and a love for the country.

The other two highlights are the National Day Celebration on Aug 31 at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur, while the Malaysia Day Celebration will be held on Sept 16 in Melaka.

Additionally, various programmes and competitions with national elements are in the pipeline, in an effort to continue fostering a patriotic spirit and love for the country among Malaysian families.

This includes the Ilham Merdeka TikTok Challenge Competition, Photography [email protected] 2022 Competition, Smule Patriotic Star Competition, [email protected] Coloring and Drawing Competition, National Story Narration Competition, Merdeka Poetry Competition and many more.

The activities will commence from July 30 to September 16.

The National Month will also see the “Kembara Merdeka Keluarga Malaysia 2022” (KMKM2022) tour programme, which kicked off during the National Month launch on July 30.

The tour was officially kicked off by the Prime Minister and will end on Aug 31 at Dataran Merdeka during the 2022 National Day celebration.

KMKM2022 is symbolised with a Jalur Gemilang Baton which will be carried and handed over at checkpoints in every State throughout Malaysia.

The convoy will travel through Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak as well as the Federal Territory of Labuan.

It will be participated by vehicles from various ministries, departments and agencies at the Federal, State and district levels as well as non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and motoring clubs from various backgrounds.

The journey will also highlight the uniqueness of the “Malaysian Family” in each location in terms of culture, food, local attractions as well as the lifestyle of the community.

Meanwhile, all Malaysian families, whether inside or outside the country, are also encouraged to be directly involved in organising activities or participate in programmes held in conjunction with the 2022 National Month Celebration.

K-KOMM, as the National Day Celebration and Malaysia Day 2022 Master Committee, also welcomes cooperation with the private sector and NGOs in enlivening the celebrations this year.
