Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim urges Malaysians to prioritise dialogue and understanding to maintain peace, warning that conflicts hinder national development.

KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on all Malaysians to prioritise understanding and dialogue when resolving differences.

He emphasised that national progress cannot be achieved without peace.

Speaking at a gathering with the Sabah Chinese community, Anwar recalled his recent working visit to Africa where ethnic conflicts had hindered development in several countries.

“That is why I urge friends, including in Sabah, not to take peace lightly because a small mistake can lead to total breakdown,” he said.

The Prime Minister warned that economic collapse and business suffering would follow any breakdown of peace.

“The economy collapses, business suffers, the nation suffers, so safeguard peace,” he stressed during the event organised by the Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah.

Anwar’s message highlighted the critical connection between national stability and economic prosperity.

He urged continuous efforts to maintain harmony among Malaysia’s diverse racial communities.

The gathering brought together community leaders and members to discuss national unity and development.
