National Sports Vision 2030 to create bigger talent pool: Peja

KUALA LUMPUR – The Youth and Sports Ministry has launched the National Sports Vision (NSV) 2030 to ensure Malaysia continues to produce athletes worthy of representing the country.

Launched together with National Sports Day today, the NSV is a 10-year plan for the development of sports in the country.

Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu admitted that Malaysia currently faces problems in tapping into new grassroots talent.

“That is why we have set the duration for this initiative for 10 years, it is not too far away.

“We will work with the National Sports Council and Malaysia Schools Sports Council to get a bigger pool of talent.

“So when it is time for the seniors to retire, we will have backup athletes who are ready to represent the country,” he said.

The National Sports Day celebration and NSV was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob outside the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya today.

A total of 56 programmes and activities have been planned nationwide over the weekend, and over 4 million people are expected to participate.

The launch today was grandly celebrated after the lack of sporting activities over the last two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ismail Sabri, meanwhile, said the NSV is a blueprint for holistic sports development aimed at creating a sporting nation by 2030. – The Vibes, October 8, 2022
