THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is highlighting product safety, clean energy and responsible artificial intelligence use at the 52nd National Standards Week on Oct. 12–15.
Through its Bureau of Philippine Standards (BPS), the agency has organized exhibitions, consultations and technical workshops under the theme “Shared Vision for a Better World: Clean Energy for All.”
The occasion opened Monday with a webinar on Philippine National Standards for artificial intelligence covering governance, risk management and responsible adoption.
The Certified Products Expo runs Oct. 13–15 at the Megatrade Hall in SM Megamall, with more than 50 exhibitors showcasing BPS-certified and safety-tested products. The event is co-organized with the DTI Consumer Policy and Advocacy Bureau.
On Oct. 14, the BPS will hold a public consultation on proposed technical regulations and mandatory certification for small electric vehicles and other personal mobility devices.
A workshop and technical forum on Oct. 15 will cover safety guidelines and regulatory requirements for installing, operating and maintaining solar power and battery energy storage systems.
On the same day, DTI will hold the “4109 Awards” to recognize partners from government, industry and academia for their contributions to consumer protection, business growth and national competitiveness.
The programs end Oct. 16 with hands-on training for BPS engineers on testing power banks and solar panels.
National Standards Week is observed annually under Proclamation 1327, issued in 1974, and coincides with World Standards Day on Oct. 14.
Interested participants may contact the DTI-BPS for registration details. The agency urged consumers and businesses to choose certified products to help ensure safety and quality.
