KATHMANDU, Aug 27 - As many as 517 foreigners from 33 countries are among the 570 tourists missing in Nepal after a catastrophic flood devastated the Himalayan nation and China's Tibet, tourism officials said today.
State broadcaster CCTV reported that the tally of foreigners missing in Tibet's Gyirong county was 260, but nationality details were not immediately available.

India: Nepal's Tourism Board said that neighbouring India had the highest number of missing with 178.
United States: It added that at least 65 US citizens are missing.
Malaysia: Earlier today, its Foreign Ministry said that at least 55 nationals reported to Malaysia's Embassy in Kathmandu are uncontactable. Nepal's Tourism Board put the number of missing at 51.
Ukraine: Authorities state that 53 Ukrainians are missing in the flood.
Australia: Earlier today, Nepal's Tourism Board said 35 Australian citizens are untraceable, while Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong said the government is working with Kathmandu to locate missing citizens.
United Kingdom: The Nepal Tourism Board said 33 UK citizens are missing after the disaster.
Canada: The missing include 25 Canadians.
South Korea: Its Foreign Ministry confirmed that nine South Koreans working in a hydropower plant were missing, and 10 were stranded.
Singapore: Nine Singapore citizens are missing.
Germany: At least eight Germans are among the missing.
Russia: Eight Russians were among the missing.
South Africa: Six South Africans were untraceable after yesterday's flood.
Latvia: Six Latvians are also among those missing.
Japan: In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said that Japan's Embassy in Nepal asked for help locating five citizens it could not contact.
New Zealand: At least five tourists from New Zealand are among the missing.
The Nepal Tourism Board also confirmed that citizens of Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland, France, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Portugal, Spain, Serbia, Switzerland, and Sweden have been missing since yesterday.
