Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s son, Datuk Mohd Nazifuddin Najib, has alleged that public perception and political motivations are driving the legal battles faced by his family. In a Facebook post on Monday (Dec 23), Nazifuddin expressed frustration over what he described as a miscarriage of justice, claiming the cases against the former prime minister are built on "lies, half-truths, and political ambition."

“These trials have destroyed lives, torn apart families, and trampled on dignity, all based on weak accusations hastily fabricated with vengeance and hatred,” he asserted.

Nazifuddin further criticized the trial proceedings, alleging that they were conducted in haste and lacked thoroughness. “This is not about justice. This is about revenge,” he stated.

Despite multiple trials, Nazifuddin emphasized that Najib had proven his innocence each time, yet the legal challenges persisted. He accused the authorities of prioritizing politics over the truth, resulting in baseless cases that wasted time, public funds, and legal resources.

“Baseless cases have wasted time, legal costs, and the people's money,” he added.

The legal challenges against Najib continue to be a focal point of Malaysia’s political landscape. On Oct 30, the High Court ordered him to present his defense on four counts of abusing his position to gain RM2.28 billion in gratification from 1MDB funds and 21 counts of money laundering involving the same amount.

During December Trial, Najib completed reading his 525-page witness statement over the course of eight days. The trial is set to resume on Jan 6.

Nazifuddin’s comments highlight a broader narrative of his family’s legal struggles being tied to political vendettas rather than justice. The situation underscores the continued polarization in Malaysian politics, with Najib’s supporters arguing he is a victim of persecution, while critics view the trials as a necessary step toward accountability.

As the legal proceedings progress, the public and political stakeholders alike will be watching closely to see how this complex saga unfolds.
