NBI: More individuals face arrest on ICC warrants in coming days

MANILA, Philippines — National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Melvin Matibag said on Saturday that the agency was prepared to enforce any additional arrest warrants that may be issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in connection with the crimes against humanity case involving former president Rodrigo Duterte.

Matibag issued the statement after confirming that the NBI had received information indicating that more individuals could face arrest warrants from the ICC in the coming days.

Matibag said the bureau’s readiness remained paramount, stressing that law enforcement agencies will act regardless of the identities of individuals involved.

“We are always ready to enforce and serve the warrants. It doesn’t matter who it is,” Matibag said. “If there are additional warrants, we are ready to enforce them and serve them.”

He added that the agency would not go into further discussion regarding possible warrants or the identities of individuals allegedly linked to the case, citing the need for operational discretion.
