The Indian Council of Agricultural Research-National Dairy Research Institute (ICAR-NDRI), Karnal, collaborated with the ICAR-Directorate of Knowledge Management in Agriculture (ICAR-DKMA), New Delhi, to organise a one-day workshop on “Impactful and Ethical Science Communication” at its ABTC seminar hall.
Dheer Singh, Director, ICAR-NDRI, inaugurated the workshop and underlined the increasing need to communicate scientific findings to the public clearly, transparently and responsibly. Anuradha Agarwal, Project Director, ICAR-DKMA, highlighted how digital platforms and ethical engagement could broaden the reach and impact of research.
During the workshop, experts delivered sessions on crafting compelling research presentations, ethics in research writing, purposeful pitching, navigating agricultural journal publishing and amplifying research via social media.
Sonal Douza, Associate Manager (Partnerships), Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, New Delhi, led sessions on presentations, pitching and social media communication. Smita Sirohi, ICAR national professor (MS Swaminathan Chair), ICAR-NIAP, New Delhi, addressed ethical issues in research writing, while Anuradha Agarwal also gave attendees insights into a publisher’s perspective on agricultural journals.
The programme aimed to strengthen researchers’ abilities in ethical and effective communication through sessions on research writing, presentations and responsible use of social media. Through interactive discussions and feedback sessions, the workshop equipped young scientists with practical tools to translate research into societal impact. Subhasis Mandal of ICAR-NDRI coordinated the event, while Udita Chaudhary delivered the vote of thanks.
