THE National Electrification Administration (NEA) on Thursday commended the signing of power supply agreements (PSAs) between the Luzon and Visayas Electric Cooperatives Aggregation (LVECA) and six power generation companies.
NEA Administrator Antonio Mariano Almeda said the signing of the agreements will help prevent service disruptions and give electric cooperatives (ECs) a stable supply foundation.
“Behind these numbers are millions of Filipino households, small businesses, health and social services that rely on us from sunrise to sunset,” Almeda said in a message delivered by NEA Deputy Administrator Vic Alvaro.
"By securing this PSA, we mitigate the risk of service disruptions, giving our ECs a stable foundation to help address operational gaps and illuminate more households. Today, we reaffirm our commitment to energy security, quality service, and improved lives for the Filipino families we serve,” Almeda added.
The PSAs were signed on Thursday at Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria in Quezon City between LVECA and Sual Power Inc., Therma Luzon Inc., Malita Power Inc., Palm Concepcion Power Corp., Therma Visayas Inc., and Energy Development Corp. (First Gen Group).
The agreements cover 19 power cooperatives in Luzon and 10 cooperatives in Visayas that joined the aggregated Competitive Selection Process led by the NEA Special Bids and Awards Committee.
The participating Luzon coops are Abra Electric Cooperative Inc., Aurora Electric Cooperative Inc., Batangas II Electric Cooperative Inc., Cagayan I Electric Cooperative Inc., Camarines Sur II Electric Cooperative Inc., Camarines Sur III Electric Cooperative Inc., First Laguna Electric Cooperative Inc., La Union Electric Cooperative Inc., Nueva Ecija I Electric Cooperative Inc., Nueva Vizcaya Electric Cooperative Inc., Pangasinan I Electric Cooperative Inc., Pampanga III Electric Cooperative Inc., Quezon I Electric Cooperative Inc., Quezon II Electric Cooperative Inc., Quirino Electric Cooperative Inc., San Jose City Electric Cooperative Inc., Tarlac I Electric Cooperative Inc., Zambales I Electric Cooperative Inc., and Zambales II Electric Cooperative Inc.
Meanwhile, the Visayas coops are Capiz Electric Cooperative Inc., Cebu I Electric Cooperative Inc., Cebu II Electric Cooperative Inc., Guimaras Electric Cooperative Inc., Iloilo I Electric Cooperative Inc., Iloilo II Electric Cooperative Inc., Iloilo III Electric Cooperative Inc., Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative Inc., Negros Oriental I Electric Cooperative Inc., and Negros Oriental II Electric Cooperative Inc.
SBAC vice chairman Alex Rivera emphasized that the signing of PSAs builds a long-term relationship between the ECs and the generation companies.
"It is a partnership founded not only on contractual obligations, but also on a shared responsibility to serve the electricity consumers who depend on us,” Rivera said.
He expressed hope that all parties will faithfully implement the agreements in accordance with their respective terms and the applicable rules and regulations of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).
