SHAH ALAM, July 8 — Approximately 1,978 patients have benefited from the Selangor Heart Treatment Scheme (SRJNS) between 2018 and May this year.

State executive councillor for public health and the environment Jamaliah Jamaluddin said it helps the people, especially those from the B40 and M40 income groups, access critical heart treatment without incurring high costs.

“This scheme has enabled thousands of people to receive prompt treatment without financial burden and has also received positive feedback from patients’ family members.

“It not only eases financial stress but also saves lives and improves patients’ quality of life,” she said during the State Legislative Assembly session today.

Jamaliah was responding to a question from Seri Serdang state assemblyman Abbas Salimmi Che Adzmi @ Azmi regarding the effectiveness and reach of the programme for the people.

She added that the scheme also offers a free pre-screening component to detect heart disease risk at an early stage, which can be applied for under Category A.

This initiative allows for early intervention, reducing health complications and ultimately saving lives.
