
Kota Kinabalu: A total of 39,623 new students enrolled in polytechnics and community colleges (POLYCC) nationwide for the 2026/2027 Academic Session I, representing a reported 133 per cent increase in enrolment.
Of the total, 32,513 students enrolled in polytechnics and 7,110 in community colleges.
Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said graduate employability within six months of graduation stood at 98.5 per cent for polytechnic graduates and 98.8 per cent for community college graduates in 2025.
He said the Higher Education Ministry’s 2026-2035 Polytechnics and Community Colleges Strategic Plan (PSPKK) would focus on governance, curriculum, digitalisation and industry collaboration to sustain enrolment growth and graduate employability.
“Our main goal by 2035 is to produce talent that is ready to adapt to changes in industry and technology, while boosting graduate employability and driving sustainable and competitive economic growth,” he said at the 2026 Sabah Zone Polytechnics and Community Colleges Convocation here on Monday.
