NABAWAN: The Sabah Cancer Volunteer Association (PSKS) wants the State government to increase the quota for mammogram screening subsidy for rural residents.

Deputy President of the Sabah State Cancer Volunteer Association, Nurfarhah Diyana Abdullah, said it currently has 300 quotas with a subsidised cost of RM280 per person through the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN).

“The quota is not enough because the number of people in need exceeds the quota every year,” she said when met at a cancer awareness programme organised by PSKS in collaboration with the women of Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) Nabawan Division, recently.

In addition to providing financial funding subsidies, PSKS also provides a transit house in Kingfisher Park, Kota Kinabalu, to make it easier for cancer patients to be accommodated.
