Rajasthan’s Special Operations Group (SOG) has detained a BAMS student from Gurugram in connection with the NEET (UG) paper leak case. The detained youth was identified as Yash Yadav, a resident of Khera village in the Farrukhnagar area. The police team suspects Yash is part of a paper leak network.
According to police sources, Yash is a first-year student at Manjira Devi Medical College in Uttarakhand. He had earlier lived in Sikar, where he attended coaching classes. It is believed that he came into contact with members of the network there.
Based on technical inputs and intelligence, an SOG team raided Khera village late on Monday night. Yash was present at home at the time. He was questioned at his residence before the team took him to Rajasthan.
Khem Chand, sarpanch of Khera village, confirmed that the SOG team raided Yash’s house late on Monday night and took him away. “The suspect has not returned home yet and it is being said that the SOG handed him over to CBI,” he added.
Meanwhile, due to the possibility of a paper leak, NTA had decided to cancel the NEET exam that was scheduled for May 12. The investigation into the matter has now been handed over to CBI.
According to sources, Yash served as a key link between the main paper leak gang and candidates. Police suspect that Yash received the question paper or its answers before the exam and passed them on to other contacts. The team is examining Yash’s bank accounts, mobile call records, and recent meetings to gather concrete evidence of financial transactions.
SOG IG Ajaypal Lamba held a press conference in Jaipur late on Tuesday night, in which Gurugram was also mentioned.
According to SOG sources, a syndicate operating in Gurugram planned to exploit the paper on a large scale. SOG has shared strong digital and documentary evidence of these financial transactions with CBI. The investigation revealed that instead of selling the original paper directly, the mafia had labelled it a “guess paper”.
