Negeri Sembilan crisis: Let it be resolved according to state laws - PM

PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has left the resolution of the ongoing conflict between the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir and the four Undang entirely to state law.

He said the Federal Government has taken a stand not to intervene directly in the issue and has left it to the relevant parties to be resolved in accordance with state law and customs.

“(The crisis) in Negeri Sembilan is calm now, let it be managed according to the laws of Negeri Sembilan first. It will take some time; we will leave it to their wisdom,” he said.

He said this when asked to comment on the development after visiting the Temonggong Ibrahim Campus Teacher Education Institute in Johor Bahru today.

The First Sitting of the 15th Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly (DUN), scheduled to be held on Thursday, was postponed to a new date to be announced later.

DUN Speaker, Datuk MK Ibrahim Abd Rahman, did not elaborate on the reason for the postponement, but hoped that the ongoing crisis could be resolved before the next sitting.

He said that the absence of the four Undang and Tunku Besar Tampin at the DUN opening ceremony did not affect the official ceremony.

“The sitting proceeds as usual, and Tuanku Muhriz’s presence is to officiate the ceremony and deliver his Majesty’s address,” he said. – April 24, 2026
