SWCorp Negeri Sembilan issued 190 littering notices, with two cases leading to court-ordered community service, as plastic and cigarette waste remain top offences.
SEREMBAN: The Negeri Sembilan Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Corporation (SWCorp) has issued 190 Notices of Violation for littering across the state.
State Local Government, Housing and Transport Committee chairman J. Arul Kumar said two cases have been brought to court, with offenders ordered to carry out community service.
“This demonstrates that enforcement is ongoing, and that the state government’s focus is not merely on the number of fines issued, but on improving public cleanliness and reducing offences,” he told reporters.
Arul Kumar said the disposal of plastic waste and cigarette butts in public areas remains the most common offence.
He added that additional rubbish bins will be provided in public areas to prevent littering.
The Nilai assemblyman also warned that traders renting or selling business space to foreign nationals at Ramadan bazaars will face strict action.
“Last year, several foreign nationals were found at Ramadan bazaars, and the traders and organisers involved were penalised,” he said.
He stated that penalties include licence revocation and blacklisting.
