More than 71,000 voters cast ballots in first 90 minutes as Labu records the highest turnout and Rantau the lowest.
SEREMBAN: Voter turnout in the Negeri Sembilan state election reached 8.29% as of 9am today, with 71,106 of the state’s 859,760 registered voters casting their ballots during the first 90 minutes of polling.
Election Commission (EC) figures showed turnout was slightly below the 9.49% recorded at the same time during the 2023 state election, when 79,557 of 838,200 registered voters had voted.
Among the 36 state constituencies, Labu recorded the highest voter turnout at 10.4%, followed by Senaling (10.3%) and Ampangan (9.4%).
At the other end of the scale, Rantau registered the lowest turnout at 6.4%, followed by Jeram Padang (6.8%) and Sungai Lui (7.2%).
Polling began at 8am and will continue until 6pm, after which vote counting will commence. The EC is expected to issue periodic turnout updates throughout the day.
