It is baffling how many times we have heard of these types of incidents- parents leaving their children unattended.

Yesterday morning, firefighters pried open a car door to rescue a toddler stuck in a car at Pantai Kundur (Tanjung Kling) in Melaka.

In photos shared in a post by the Facebook page Melaka Explorer, the firefighters can be seen donning their full firefighter uniform and white protective helmets as they use a makeshift wire tool to save the trapped baby.

The rain poured incessantly as work on the car progressed, and after what must have felt like an eternity, the firefighters managed to remove the door.

The tiny toddler can be seen sitting all alone, with the driver’s seat looking much too big for its tiny body.

Netizens chastise the parents

Over in the comments section, netizens were NOT going easy on the child’s parents.

For such an irresponsible act, a netizen even suggested that the parents be issued a (police) summon!

“Good at making babies but not good at caring for the baby.”

Others lamented parents’ carelessness these days, taking the easy way out when handling their kids.

“This is what I despise the most, leaving the child in the car. I wonder why…can’t even take care of your child,” mentioned one angry netizen.

“NEGLIGENT, CARELESS, INATTENTIVE. ONLY CAUSING THE FIREFIGHTERS TROUBLE,” quoted another.

However, one netizen offered a different perspective and reminded Malaysians to be mindful of how one should speak of their parents.

“No parents would abandon their children like that. Didn’t it rain in the morning just now?” she said.

She reminded everyone not to slander the parents but to give them the benefit of the doubt because it is always easier to judge someone for their actions when one is not in the same position.

What do you think? Is it right to leave a child unattended in one’s vehicle? Let us know in the comments section below!
