India-Nepal ties highlighted as Kathmandu condemns Pahalgam terror attack during memorial event

Nepal has expressed solidarity with India and has unequivocally condemned the “barbaric” terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, reaffirming the shared resolve of the two neighbouring countries to combat terrorism jointly, officials said here on Friday.

The message was conveyed by Nepal’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shisir Khanal, during a commemoration event organised by the Embassy of India in Nepal to mark the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, launched in the aftermath of the April 22, 2025 terror attack.

Among the 26 people who were killed in the terror attack last year, one was a Nepali national.

A message from the Nepalese Foreign Minister was read out at the event, attended by members of the Indian diaspora, representatives of the Nepal-India Friendship Association and officials of the Indian mission in Kathmandu.

Participants paid tribute to the innocent civilians who lost their lives in the Pahalgam attack and observed a solemn remembrance during the gathering.

The event highlighted the close ties between India and Nepal and underscored the collective commitment of the two countries to confront terrorism and preserve regional peace and stability.
