Nepal rescuers crawl through thick mud to save trapped hydropower workers

Nepal rescuers climbed through thick mud to reach and evacuate labourers and residents trapped by devastating floods on Friday (28 August).

Footage showed rescuers making their way towards a tunnel at the Upper Trishuli Hydropower project to reach those trapped.

Authorities in Nepal have warned of possible fresh flooding on Sunday, urging residents in already devastated districts to remain on high alert, as mountain rescue specialists more usually deployed to assist climbers on peaks including Everest joined the search for hydropower workers.
