Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised a heroic passenger who intervened after a pilot on an Israel-bound flight stabbed another pilot and may have deliberately tried to crash the plane.
Israeli officials said the co-pilot of Flydubai flight FZ1073 which was travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv on Wednesday, is believed to have stabbed the captain in a possible attempted ‘terror attack’ with around 150 Israeli passengers on board.
Passenger Yaniv Hayoun and others helped tackle one of the pilots and tie him down.
In a video posted on Wednesday (September 30), Netanyahu embraces Mr Hayoun as he arrives at Ben Gurion airport, calling him a “hero” and saying it was an “honour” to meet him.
He added: "I see you and I see a lion - a big hero.”
