Netanyahu rejects Trump’s 15-point peace plan for Gaza

  • Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected US President Donald Trump's Gaza peace plan, insisting Israel will not withdraw until Hamas is fully disarmed.
  • Mr Trump had claimed in July that both Israel and Hamas agreed to his plan, which included a ceasefire initiated last year.
  • Despite the ceasefire agreement, Israel has continued to carry out strikes on Gaza.
  • The proposed peace deal involved Hamas relinquishing its weapons, Israeli forces withdrawing as disarmament progressed, and an international stabilisation force working with a new Palestinian police force.
  • Senior Hamas official Ghazi Hamad said: “The agreement contains a clear provision stating that Israel must commit to and implement its obligations. If Israel does not implement the agreement, neither will we.”
