Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was taken to a hospital in Jerusalem late on Monday, Israeli media reported.

The reports, citing Netanyahu's office, said he was receiving dental treatment. No further details were given.

About a month ago, the 76-year-old said he had undergone treatment for a malignant prostate tumour and later said he was healthy. Netanyahu also said he had delayed the publication of his health report to prevent Iran's leadership from using it for propaganda.

During the war with Iran, there were rumours on social media that Netanyahu had died. Speculation about his state of health emerged both at home and abroad.

The Israeli prime minister has been treated in hospital on several occasions in the past for health problems. In 2024, he also underwent surgery for a hernia, while in 2023, he had a pacemaker fitted.

Last year, he suffered from intestinal inflammation, which he was able to recover from at home.
