Netflix raises prices across all plans in Malaysia, up to RM7 more a month

Netflix has increased its subscription prices in Malaysia across all plans, meaning subscribers will have to pay more for their monthly streaming plans. The increases range from RM1 on the cheapest plan to RM7 on the most expensive, depending on which tier you’re subscribed to.

Here’s how the new pricing compares to before:

In short, all four Netflix plans in Malaysia are now more expensive. Mobile has increased by RM1, Basic by RM4, Standard by RM6 and Premium by RM7 per month. This means subscribers will now be paying between RM12 and RM84 more a year, depending on the plan.

The extra member slots have gone up too. If you share a Standard or Premium plan with someone outside your household, each extra member now costs RM14.90 a month, up from RM13. The plans themselves are otherwise unchanged, so you’re still getting the same resolutions, device limits and features, just at a higher price.

This is the first time Netflix has bumped up its Malaysian prices since November 2024, when the last round of hikes landed. It follows the price increases Netflix rolled out in the US back in March this year, which at the time didn’t touch local subscribers. As usual, Netflix says the adjustments are to keep improving the service and expanding its library of shows and movies.

Whether it’s worth it is up to you, but with rivals like Disney+, HBO Max, Viu and iQIYI all fighting for the same ringgit, it might be a good time to take stock of which streaming services you’re actually watching before the bills pile up.
