Acer has introduced the PA100 Portable SSD, a compact external drive aimed at users who want faster storage without giving up portability.
With support for USB 3.2 Gen 1, the PA100 can reach sequential read speeds of up to 560 MB/s and write speeds of up to 430 MB/s, making it a noticeable step up from traditional mechanical external drives for everyday file transfers.
That extra speed is useful for moving large media files, backing up data, managing documents, or accessing projects across different devices. Acer is offering the PA100 in 500 GB, 1 TB, and 2 TB capacities, giving users a few options depending on how much storage they need.
The drive is also built with mobility in mind, measuring just 9 mm thick and using a reinforced construction designed to handle everyday travel and handling. It comes with a 2-in-1 USB-C to USB-C and USB-A cable, allowing it to connect to PCs, tablets, smartphones, and other compatible devices without needing a separate adapter.
Power efficiency is another focus, with the PA100 using less than 3W during operation and as little as 0.62W when idle. Acer says its thermal design is optimized to maintain stable performance during extended transfers, whether the drive is being used with a desktop or a mobile device.
The PA100 is backed by a 3-year limited warranty, giving it a practical mix of speed, portability, and capacity for everyday storage needs.
