Kia’s electric van family is growing, and its newest member is quite a bit bigger. The new Kia PV7 has been revealed at the IAA Transportation show in Hanover, promising more space than the PV5, a maximum claimed range of more than 286 miles and speedy charging when it arrives in Europe in the second half of 2027.
The PV7 is the second model in Kia’s dedicated electric Platform Beyond Vehicle, or PBV, lineup after the PV5, which was named 2026 International Van of the Year. It’ll be offered in Cargo and Passenger forms at launch, before the range expands to as many as 23 variants covering different body sizes, roof heights and specialist conversions.
There are two battery choices, at 71.5kWh and 96.2kWh, with up to 268bhp and 420Nm sent to the front wheels – all-wheel drive is planned later. Kia says the Long Range Cargo version is targeting more than 286 miles on a charge, although that figure is still preliminary.
The PV7 also gets an 800V electrical system, with Kia aiming for a 10 to 80 per cent charge in the mid-20-minute range when using a 350kW rapid charger. In a first for Kia, there are two charging ports: a front AC/DC connection plus an optional AC port further back on the side, designed to give drivers more flexibility when parking and charging.
Cargo versions are aimed at delivery firms, fleets and smaller businesses, with two- or three-seat layouts. The Long model offers up to 6.1 cubic metres of load space, rising to 8.0 cubic metres in the High Roof version, while maximum payload is up to 1,165kg for the Long and 1,200kg for the Compact. The Long also has a 550mm loading height and can take three Euro pallets.
There’s a choice of twin side-hinged rear doors or a conventional lift-up tailgate, while a powered sliding side door can close itself when the driver walks away with the key. Vehicle-to-Load technology is also included, allowing the PV7’s battery to power tools and other electrical kit.
Passenger versions are designed for everything from shuttle and rental work to family use. They’ll carry up to nine people, with a seven-seat version getting seats that can be removed and repositioned along long floor rails. Rear climate control, 100W USB-C charging and power sliding doors are among the available features.
Like the smaller PV5, the PV7 has an upright, boxy shape designed to make the most of the space inside, while replaceable bumper corners, wheel arch sections and door cladding are intended to make repairs simpler.
Inside, Kia has kept physical controls for frequently used functions alongside 12.9in and 14.6in screens. Its Pleos Connect system is based on Android Automotive and includes over-the-air updates, connected navigation and an AI voice assistant. Safety kit includes seven airbags, with a range of driver-assistance systems covering collision avoidance, lane keeping, parking and motorway driving.
“The PV7 builds on the design principles introduced with the PV5, exploring how a larger commercial vehicle can feel more approachable, adaptable and connected to the people who rely on it every day,” said Karim Habib, executive vice president and head of Kia global design. “It reflects our belief that thoughtful, human-centred design can make even the most practical vehicle more relevant, meaningful and rewarding to experience.”
The PV7 Passenger and Cargo will go on sale in Korea and Europe in the second half of 2027, with more versions following. Kia is also planning a larger PV9 for 2029, so its electric van family has another member waiting in the wings.
