Exactly fifty years after the original executive fastback arrived in 1976, Lancia has resurrected a legendary nameplate with the world premiere of the New Lancia Gamma at the 2026 Paris Motor Show.
There’s a new Lancia Gamma and it’s being manufactured at Stellantis’ upgraded Melfi plant in Italy. The new flagship adopts a fastback crossover silhouette measuring 4,672 mm in length with a 2,791 mm wheelbase. It emphasizes slippery aerodynamics, achieving a class-leading drag coefficient of just 0.25 alongside a generous 560-litre cargo hold. As interesting as it is, we wouldn’t get our hopes up at all for this car. We’ll explain why later on in this post.

Multi-Energy Powertrains and the Legendary HF Integrale
Built on the multi-energy STLA Medium platform, the Gamma offers both mild-hybrid and pure-electric configurations:
- Hybrid 145 HP: Powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine paired with a 48V six-speed eDCT dual-clutch transmission, yielding 145 hp, 230 Nm, and over 1,000 km of driving range.
- Electric FWD (Standard & Long Range): Offers 230 hp (73.7 kWh net battery) for 543 km of WLTP range, or 245 hp (97.2 kWh net battery) delivering a benchmark 741 km of range. DC fast charging reaches 20% to 80% in 27 minutes.
- HF Integrale AWD: Reintroducing the iconic badge after thirty years, the dual-motor halo model punches out 375 hp and 509 Nm, sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds with a 676 km range, active camera-based predictive damping, and forged 21-inch wheels.

Living Room Cabin with S.A.L.A. Tech
The cabin draws inspiration from modern Italian domestic architecture, featuring a distinctive central “coffee table” complete with a wireless charging surface and pen holder.

Over 60% of visible surfaces use sustainable materials. Tech highlights include a dual-screen layout (10.25-inch gauge cluster and 16-inch center display), an expansive 21-inch virtual Head-Up Display, a 14-speaker Focal audio system, Level 2 semi-automated lane-change tech, and the S.A.L.A. HUB voice assistant powered by ChatGPT.

Will We See a Right-Hand-Drive Version for Malaysia?
The short answer is: almost certainly not.
While the underlying STLA Medium platform natively supports right-hand-drive (RHD) engineering—as seen in mechanical cousins like the Peugeot 3008—Lancia itself has had zero presence in RHD markets for decades.

After rust scandals crippled its reputation in the UK during the early 1980s, Lancia withdrew from right-hand-drive vehicle production entirely in 1994. Stellantis briefly rebadged Chrysler models (such as the 300C and Delta) under Chrysler badges in the UK during the 2010s rather than tooling up genuine RHD Lancias.

Lancia’s current European revival strategy remains laser-focused on core left-hand-drive continental markets including Italy, France, Germany, Spain, and the Benelux. Developing a dedicated RHD interior assembly specifically for boutique, low-volume Commonwealth markets makes virtually no economic sense for Stellantis. In any case, Stellantis Malaysia is not even bringing new Peugeot models in, so hoping for Lancia models is a complete stretch.
