Land Rover is undertaking a second major update for the Defender 110

Recent spy photos of test vehicles reveal that the refreshed model will feature revised exterior details, including redesigned front and rear bumpers, updated daytime running lights and a small roof-mounted spoiler lip just to make up the new look.

Inside the cabin, the new Defender 110 is expected to replace the current three-seat rear bench with two individual “captain’s chairs” which is a configuration already introduced on the Defender 130, resulting in a four-seat layout and offering more rear comfort for chauffeur driven Defenders.

The previous major update to the Defender occurred in May 2024, primarily involving revised headlight designs and the addition of several safety systems compliant with the EU’s GSR2 regulations.

This latest refresh aims to enhance the Defender’s competitiveness against new rivals. In the UK market, the updated model will compete against the upcoming BMW X5, the face-lifted Mercedes-Benz GLE and the Denza B5 (the Chinese-market equivalent of the Fangchengbao Bao 5) which looks very much like an immediate rival.

Interestingly, the Defender remains Jaguar Land Rover’s best-selling model. In the first nine months of fiscal year 2025–26, JLR delivered 107,132 Defenders to customers, down 2.9% from 110,296 units during the same period of the prior fiscal year.

During the same timeframe, the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport recorded deliveries of 66,993 and 74,059 units, respectively. Notably, JLR experienced a cyberattack between September and October 2025, which disrupted production and new vehicle registrations.

The Defender is seeing exceptional performance, especially in Europe, including France, where it achieved 134% in its category, and is a top performer in the UK market.

Meanwhile, did you know that the brand is planning for an electrified future, with a BEV version of the Defender expected in the coming years.
