PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced today that the swearing-in ceremony for ministers and deputy ministers appointed in the recent MADANI Government Cabinet reshuffle will be held at Istana Negara tomorrow at 10am, following the royal consent granted by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.
“Appreciation goes to our colleagues, the ministers and deputy ministers, who have dedicated their service through their ministries and for the nation in the past,” Anwar said at a press conference announcing the Cabinet appointments. He also confirmed that the Cabinet meeting will proceed at 2.30pm on the same day.
The announcement follows a sweeping Cabinet reshuffle introducing 28 new ministerial and deputy ministerial appointments, along with strategic portfolio realignments.
The reshuffle addresses several ministerial vacancies and aims to ensure the Cabinet operates as a unified team, focusing on revitalised economic growth and resolving pressing issues facing Malaysians.
As announced earlier, key ministerial changes include Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, who moves from Minister of Plantation and Commodities to Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry.
Hannah Yeoh is now Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department for Federal Territories, Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir assumes the role of Minister of Economy, and Steven Sim becomes Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives.
Five new ministers join the Cabinet: Dr Zulkifli Hasan for Religious Affairs, Datuk Mustapha Sakmud for Sabah and Sarawak Affairs, Datuk Seri R Ramanan for Human Resources, Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup for Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, and Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari for Youth and Sports.
Deputy ministerial portfolios were also reorganised, with appointments including Liew Chin Tong as Deputy Minister of Finance, Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad as Deputy Minister of Energy Transition and Water, Datuk Chan Foong Hin as Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lim Hui Ying as Deputy Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development, and Adam Adli Abd Halim as Deputy Minister of Higher Education.
Other key appointments include Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib, Datuk Mohamad Alamin, Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii, Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan, and several others across various ministries.
Three deputy ministers have been promoted to full ministerial positions to fill the vacancies in the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, and Ministry of Human Resources.
Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir, formerly Deputy Minister of Energy Transition and Water, now leads the Ministry of Economy, while Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup, previously Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, is appointed Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability.
Datuk Seri R Ramanan, formerly Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, now heads the Ministry of Human Resources, replacing Steven Sim. Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah, MP for Paya Besar from Barisan Nasional, is appointed Deputy Minister of Economy.
The reshuffle addresses ministerial vacancies arising from the resignations of Datuk Ewon Benedick (Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives), Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli (Minister of Economy), Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad (Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability), and the completion of Senatorial tenure by Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz (Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry).
The swearing-in ceremony marks the formal consolidation of the MADANI Cabinet, reflecting Prime Minister Anwar’s commitment to strengthening administrative efficiency, policy continuity, and strategic governance to meet Malaysia’s economic and social priorities. - December 16, 2025
