KUALA LUMPUR: The official opening of Maybank’s new headquarters at Menara Merdeka 118 symbolises the banking group’s confidence in moving forward as a values-driven institution committed to good governance and creating sustainable value, chairman Tan Sri Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa said.
Zamzamzairani said the official opening marks a significant milestone in Maybank’s 66-year journey alongside Malaysia’s development and underscores the bank’s confidence in its future as a values-driven institution.
“This event does not merely mark the official opening of our new headquarters at Menara Merdeka Maybank, but more importantly symbolises our confidence to keep moving forward as a values-driven institution, grounded in good governance, and committed to creating sustainable value for customers, society and the nation,” he said at the official launch of the new headquarters, which was officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today.
“In the life of any organisation, there are moments that become benchmarks for its history and future direction. Today is one of those moments for Maybank,” Zamzamzairani said.
He said the relocation marks a new chapter for the banking group, which has grown alongside Malaysia since its establishment in 1960.
“Since its founding in 1960, Maybank has grown alongside Malaysia’s development. Through various changes and challenges, we have remained committed to the values of integrity, excellence and trust that form the foundation of this institution’s strength,” he said.
Drawing parallels with the nation’s progress ahead of the National Day celebrations, Zamzamzairani said the same values that have guided Malaysia’s development have also underpinned Maybank’s growth for more than six decades.
“As we approach the National Day celebrations, we are reminded that a nation’s progress is built on a solid foundation, trust, and commitment to keep advancing. The same values have guided Maybank’s journey for more than six decades and will continue to guide every step we take going forward.
“The trust of customers, shareholders, strategic partners, regulators and local communities is the foundation that has allowed Maybank to continue growing and remain relevant to this day,” he said.
Reaffirming the group’s purpose of “Humanising Financial Services”, Zamzamzairani said Maybank measures success not only by financial performance but also by the positive impact it creates for society.
“As a purpose-driven regional financial institution, Maybank remains committed to its aspiration of Humanising Financial Services. We believe success is measured not solely by financial performance, but also by the positive impact we are able to bring to society,” he said.
He said Maybank continues to expand its social impact by broadening access to inclusive financial solutions, empowering micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), improving financial literacy and strengthening community wellbeing.
Zamzamzairani said the group’s commitment to responsible banking has received international recognition.
“We are pleased that this values-based commitment has also received international recognition, with Maybank recently named ‘World’s Best Bank for Corporate Responsibility’ by Euromoney, in addition to being named ‘Malaysia’s Best Bank’,” he said.
He added that Maybank Islamic continues to strengthen its leadership in Islamic finance after being recognised as “Islamic Bank of the Year” by The Banker for the fifth time, as well as “Best Islamic Bank for Wealth Management” by Euromoney.
“For us, these accolades are not merely achievements, but proof that sustainable success stems from strong values, good governance, and ongoing commitment to all stakeholders,” he said.
Zamzamzairani thanked Maybank’s customers, shareholders, regulators, strategic partners, investors and employees for their trust, dedication and continued support.
He said the bank’s greatest strength lies beyond its physical headquarters.
“Maybank’s true strength lies not in the building we occupy, but in the trust built over more than six decades, the values we continue to uphold, and the people who bring this institution’s aspirations to life every day,” he said.
