
MANILA, Philippines — The new acting president of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) vowed to carry the corporation's momentum forward to improve the health of Filipinos.
The organization welcomed former Health undersecretary Beverly Lorraine Ho as its new acting president and chief executive officer, bringing her expertise in public health, health systems strengthening and thei impelementation of Universal Health Care (UHC) in the country.
Prior to her role, Ho served as chief medical officer of Ayala Healthcare Holdings.
“Our job now is to ensure that we continue to progress by increasing access points, improving benefit packages, and ensuring that every member receives quality care,” Ho said.
Ho also said that she wanted progress to reach the people who needed it most.
She said that key programs under former Philhealth president and now Health Secretary Edwin Mercado would continue.
“I want members to feel the effects of the reforms that came before me, and I wouldn’t be able to achieve that if babaguhin ko ulit lahat (If I will change that), What you’ll see is a sharper focus on execution." Ho said.
