In a recent announcement, Malaysian Transport Minister Anthony Loke has confirmed that the Malaysian government is set to restart the search for the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370. The minister expressed his commitment to convince the Cabinet to sign a contract with Ocean Infinity, a private seabed exploration company, to resume the search operations.
Speaking at the 10th Remembrance Event for Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370, Minister Loke emphasized the government's dedication to finding answers for the families of the victims. "The Transport Ministry is ready to invite Ocean Infinity to Malaysia to discuss the 'no find, no fee' proposal," he stated. "As the Minister, representing the Malaysian Government today, it is not just to express our solidarity, but it is a commitment and a promise that the search will go on."
Minister Loke assured the attendees that he would spare no effort in obtaining the Cabinet's approval to sign a new contract with Ocean Infinity. He expressed optimism about the potential for new research and technologies to aid in the search efforts. "I am glad that there is some progress in some of the new research and new technologies which have been presented," he said. "We hope that the search can find the plane and give the truth to the next of kin."
The disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 remains one of the most perplexing mysteries in aviation history. The flight, a Boeing 777-200ER, vanished from radar screens less than an hour after departing from Kuala Lumpur International Airport en route to Beijing Capital International Airport on March 8, 2014.
The aircraft had a total of 239 people on board, including 227 passengers and 12 crew members. Despite extensive search efforts conducted over the years, the wreckage of the plane and the remains of those on board have never been found.
The decision to resume the search for MH370 comes after a previous search operation, led by the Australian government and concluded in 2018, failed to locate the aircraft. Ocean Infinity, a company specializing in deep-sea exploration, had previously conducted a search for MH370 under a "no find, no fee" agreement but did not succeed in finding the wreckage.
As efforts to find the missing plane continue, the families of those on board MH370 remain hopeful for closure. The resumption of the search represents a renewed commitment by the Malaysian government to uncover the truth behind one of aviation's greatest mysteries.
